The premise is simple “take care of the product from the beehive to the final package”
Our honey is exclusively produced by the 40.000 beehives that belong to COSAR, without having to resort to beekeepers outside our system. That is why we can say we are the first company of the world that can assure complete traceability from the beehive to the packing. Thus, customers will be able to follow the entire process through our webpage entering the lot number to know data and a picture of who has produced it.
Our cooperative has been certified by the national organism SAGPYA (Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food), granting COSAR the quality stamp "Argentine Food, a Natural choice".
This label assures our Premium Quality, making special emphasis in Food Safety, Process control, Quality guarantee and Traceability.
This quality stamp accompanies the individual commercial brands of the Argentine firms as a “counter brand”, allowing an easier identification for between: Product - Country of origin - Differentiated quality. |

OUR QUALITY
When the company was formed from nine smaller groups, one of the biggest challenges was to find a way to produce honey in all our beehives with the same quality parameters. It came forth that one way to ensure that, was to develop an internal quality control system, working preventively, with cross auditory where each group technician audits to beekeepers of another group.
This exchange is the cue factor by which our human resources have capacitated and developed besides improving quality. The goal is to grant a privilege to innovation and creativity to completely satisfy final consumers and trade customers.
This Quality System (QS) relies upon the existence of a Technical Department which works very closely with our producers in a program of continuous improvement. At the same time new and better methods of production are being investigated supervised by PROAPI, National Apiculture Program sponsored by INTA, National Institute of Agrarian Technology. This National Program is well known worldwide for the integrated application of genetics, processing technology and human resources development.
Annually, training courses are implemented in the application of Good Practices of Manufacturing for handling the products.
In each extraction plant, Standardized Sanitation Operating Procedures are used to get honey without contamination risks.
Bases of the Quality System
No antibiotics are use in our beehives because:
- We use PROAPI GENETICS, selected by hygienic behavior for 20 years, which allows bees to tolerate foulbrood diseases better.
- We check beehives twice a year and eliminate infected beehives
- We have a SANITARY PLAN which allows us to produce sustainable high quality products.
In each production area we have an Extraction Plant where we take care of the product quality from the beginning.
The organization achieved during all these years, allows us to be flexible to the changes imposed by the markets and external factors.
Monitoring System
INTA Protocol nª 11: “specifications for the production of honey without using antibiotics or carbolic acid.”
Procedures Manual: It describes each of the processes that are used in the system.
Recording System: All the processes are recorded from the beehive to the customer. And these documents are the bases of our traceability.
Field Work Sheet: each producer records every activity in the apiary (Sanitation, Feeding, Harvest, etc). This document is the starting point to keep track of the different steps in the process.
Other documents are: Honey material Reception List - Extraction Report - Samples and drums Labels - POES Lists - Drum Storage List and Packaging List. |
